In District Rahim Yar Khan, the Punjab Human Capital Investment Project, an initiative of Punjab Social Protection Authority, and NRSP District Team joined hands to initiate birth registration activities in various Union Councils. These activities were organized in Basti Channa, Tehsil Tranda Sway Khan Union Council 40 and Basti Ranjhay Khan, Tehsil Sadiqabad Union Council 55.

Earlier, a Coordination Meeting was held with the District Local Government Rahim Yar Khan with the aim of facilitating birth registration at the community level. In the respective Union Councils of each tehsil, the birth registration of BISP beneficiaries’ children under age 5 was done.

On this occasion, PHCIP District Focal Person Majid Sattar discussed some important points in regards to birth registration and said that it is necessary for parents to register their child in their respective union council within 60 days of birth. In case of non-registration within 60 days, registration of birth up to the age of 7 years will have to be done as per schedule with a late fee. He clarified that it is the first and foremost responsibility of the parents to register the birth of their children in a timely manner so that they can obtain the National Identity Document in future with ease.
